February 22, 2025,Cagayan de Oro City_City Councilor Joyleen "Girlie" Balaba Saturday led a motorcade around the main streets of CdO as a show of support for former President Rodrigo Duterte, Vice President Sara Duterte and the entire slate of senatoriables of the PDP Laban party. An estimated crowd of more or less four thousand supporters showed up while passing motorists and passengers signified their approval by raising clenched fists.
On board a white pickup truck festooned with tarpaulins of senatorial candidates of the PDP Laban and stickers bearing the words "Respect The Constitution", Kagawad Balaba waved to supporters and gave away t-shirts and ballers of to onlookers along the roadsides. Following Balaba's lead were more than a hundred vehicles with hazard lights blinking and horns honking. With sound systems blaring, the lady Councilor of the city's 2nd district and fellow participants raised clenched fists, symbolising Duterte's trademark gesture while chanting "Duterte Pa Rin". The motorcade started from the rotunda, went around Barangay Carmen along Zayas and Suniel streets, turned left going to Barangay Patag, rounded the Bulua terminal, passed thru Barangay Kauswagan and NHA area, turned left bound to the downtown area and ended at the rotunda.
In an earlier exclusive interview with the Mindanao Reporter, Balaba pointed out that the activity was purely attended and supported by volunteers who all wanted to express their sentiments.Balaba stressed that no government funds nor equipment were used for the event.
