February 28, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_The regular Board of Directors of the Cagayan de Oro Water District is exploring legal options against the impending six months extension of the interim LWUA-appointed management's stay at the water utility.
In a press conference Friday at a local hotel, the so-called "set aside" B.O.D. questioned the legitimacy of a supposed Local Water Utilities Administration or LWUA resolution extending Interim General Manager Fermin Jarales' and interim board of directors' tenure at the COWD, saying that the regular B.O.D. has yet to get a hard copy of the said resolution.
The regular COWD Board of Directors is set to take over the management of the beleaguered GOCC and install erstwhile regular Assistant General Edna Najeal as regular General Manager of the COWD.
The interim General Manager's and interim board of directors' earlier 3 months extension ends at midnight today.
Present during the presscon was the regular COWD Board headed by Chairman Dr. Jerry Can̈o and lawyer Rhobert Maestre.
