Macabalan Folks To Oca:Restore Philhealth Coverage, Support Livelihood, Expand Port

April 2, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_Stressing the importance of inclusive and participatory governance, former city mayor Oscar Moreno Wednesday met with laborers at the Macabalan port and outlined his priorities as he intently acknowledged their issues and concerns.

Moreno, who is eyeing a comeback as the city's chief local executive, assured the workers of the restoration of healthcare benefits through Philhealth coverage, a relocation project for informal settlers , accessible skills and livelihood opportunities and a comprehensive insurance coverage for trisikad drivers.

Moreno, a former three-term mayor of this highly urbanized city, emphasized the need for sustained road maintenance and the expansion of the Macabalan port, thereby creating more employment and livelihood for Barangays Macabalan and Puntod residents.

Moreno, a law professor, reiterated the importance of inclusive governance through sectoral representation and transparency.

Accompanying Moreno during the informal gathering of Macabalan residents were 2nd District incumbent City Councilor Rustico Ian Achas, former Misamis Oriental board member Boboy Sabal, aspiring councilors Roger Villazorda, Maricris Mulat, Ike Olandesca and Jasmine Borja.
