Marginal Settlers Meet Oca, Air Concerns

April 27, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_During another session of Pakighinabi, a series of consultations of Team Padayon OSM Sunday, a group of marginal settlers met with former city mayor Oscar Moreno and aired their apprehensions and concerns.

Laurito Sabella, board member of CAFEDCO (Cagayan de Oro Federation of People's Organizations), an urban poor group based in Barangay Kauswagan, was emotional as he related his situation to Attorney Moreno.

Sabella feared that his house will be demolished soon and he has nowhere to relocate his family. He added that he approached the current city administration and was merely asked if he and the incumbent official were Facebook friends.

For his part, when elected as the next chief executive, Moreno pledged to exert all efforts to assist this sector while advising them to accept relocation options. Moreno insists that this sector should have security of tenure.
