Cagayan de Oro City_The 10th Regional Office of the Highway Patrol Group Thursday urged drivers, motorists, public utility operators, and private vehicle owners to make sure that their vehicles are in good running condition, especially during travels this All Souls Day weekend.

" Proper monitoring and maintenance of these means of transportation are very vital to effectively avoid inconvenience to drivers and the riding public and or prevent untoward incidents like breakdowns and accidents while traveling", said Police Leutenant Gina Fe Hisuan, the operations chief of RHPU-10 based in Camp Evangelista in Barangay Patag, this city.

"With the expected volume of vehicular traffic going to and from the provinces this Undas season, the safety of both motorists and passengers is paramount",

added Lt. Hisuan, as she also disclosed that mandatory inspections of public utility buses, vans, and the like, will be done soon.

"With the collaboration of national agencies like the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, the Philippine National Police and the local government units,

we need to ensure that vehicles are roadworthy", said Hisuan. She also noted that unauthorized attachments like sirens, blinding lights, and blinkers will be confiscated during inspections and checkpoints.

The HPU-10 office also warns the public against buying or renting vehicles that have questionable papers or are sold cheap.

Lt. HIsuan also warned would-be motor vehicle buyers, especially of secondhand vehicles, to be extra circumspect and have the papers examined by their office before payment.
