WITH more than 10,000 action figures displayed, Toyland Bistro is unarguably the biggest anime-themed café in the country. And it is located right here in Cagayan de Oro City. Toyland Bistro opened its doors last October 8 at Max Suniel St. in Carmen, just a stone’s throw away from the PLDT regional branch.

Toyland Bistro boasts of the following collections: Iron Man, Lupin, Demon Slayer, Dragonball Z, One Piece, Marvel, DC, Mickey Mouse, Lion King, Slam Dunk, Ruruoni Kenshin, Wolverine, Ghost Fighter, Naruto, Samurai X, Spiderman, Power Rangers, Superman, Transformers, Voltes V, John Wick, Matrix, Gunpla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Frozen, Star Wars, 101 Dalmatians, How to Train Your Dragon, Doraemon, Michael Jordan and more.

That means Toyland Bistro’s collections span across genres and generations thanks to Architecture student Lauren Francis Cabacungan and his father. The duo – particularly the father – started collecting items as childhood toys but even in this era of Netflix streaming anime, his passion has never wavered. His son has his own contribution too – LEGO items of global landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal and the Dubai skyline as well as an array of various jetliner liveries. But the collections are not just for sightseeing. Those who want to marvel inside need to dine first. They can order a variety of comfort food such as pika-pika fries (regular, truffle mayo, truffle parmesan); nachoose you, Pikachu! (nachos + capsicum, woof woofle); combos (pork combo, tuna combo, ham & cheese + fries); and sweets (cheeseroll, parmesan ensaymada, cheese ensaymada, blueberry cheesecake, Chantilly, cassava cake, red velvet cake, chocolate cake).

You can pair that with drinks such as hot or iced espresso (Americano, cappuccino, café latte, mocha latte, white mocha, salted caramel latte, caramel macchiato, dirty mocha); non-coffee (matcha, calamansi); refreshers (strawberry slam, despicable chaos, hulk smash, galactus blue, iced tea land); and frappe (I am ghost, light fury, night fury, ninja turtles, toyland drink, sweet majin buu <<- you’ve got to taste it to know what these stuff are made of!) Toyland Bistro also has a VIP room for functions such as business meetings that they call the Iron Man room. Toyland Bistro is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, including Sundays.
